Share in the mission of rebuilding a godly patriarchy
It’s Good To Be A Man is about extending God’s house and father-rule, by helping men to establish their own houses in strength, workmanship and wisdom.
Simply put, we’re building a community of men who are building God’s kingdom in the world. If you believe in this mission, join us. Any committed Christian man can participate. We share more back with members, because your support enables us to devote more time to ministry. “He who waters will himself be watered.” (Proverbs 11:25)

Tyrannus Hall membership ($35/month)
Since the beginning of It’s Good To Be A Man, men have asked us for a place to fellowship with like-minded men, hash out issues related to masculinity, and receive informed advice.
This is what Tyrannus Hall is: an online community in support of Christian men seeking to establish their houses in strength, workmanship, and wisdom. The Hall takes its name from the book of Acts:
And [Paul] entered the synagogue and for three months spoke boldly, reasoning and persuading them about the kingdom of God. But when some became stubborn and continued in unbelief, speaking evil of the Way before the congregation, he withdrew from them and took the disciples with him, reasoning daily in the hall of Tyrannus. (Acts 19:8–9)
Our Tyrannus Hall sadly cannot meet in person—but, on the upside, we can accept members from anywhere in the world.
The Hall is not a replacement for your local congregation. The necessity of the saints physically assembling every week is a staple of historic Christian orthodoxy. However, we do recognize that in the times and seasons of Western men’s lives, many need a supplement to their local churches. The Hall is a safe haven if you have had to withdraw from a congregation, or if you simply aren’t receiving solid meat there. It is a place where you can still find fraternity, discipleship, and teaching as you work to re-establish a local community of Christian men who love God’s design for man. It includes:
Access to the Tyrannus Hall Discord server
This is a private chat forum with 19 topical channels ranging from
#fraternity. Here you can talk with like-minded men, work through issues you are facing, and establish offline friendships.
Scheduled check-in calls
These give you a chance to review your goals, your struggles, and your accomplishments with other men. Check-ins are run on Zoom by facilitators we have picked for their trustworthiness and wisdom.
An ever-growing library
We curate a members-only list of resources that include:
- Guidelines for quitting porn
- Discount codes for services or products that we have found to be valuable, like YNAB
- An ever-growing tagged database of articles, papers, and websites relevant to gendered piety
- Notes taken from reading works like A Parent’s Guide to Preventing Homosexuality
Twice-monthly panels on Zoom
These are on Thursdays at 8:30 pm Eastern, and generally run between 1.5 and 3 hours. They cover any and every topic impinging on living well as a Christian man. You can join live to participate in Q&A, or you can watch the replays later at your convenience. The panels are run by Michael and Bnonn, and sometimes feature other experts to round out the discussions.
Recordings of previous panel discussions
These include topics like:
- Dealing with feminine tests in relationships
- Developing household culture
- Birth control and fruitfulness
- Q&A sessions on hard questions (e.g., how to correct your wife; reconciling sex drive and singleness)
- Linear (masculine) v. circular (feminine) approaches to conversation and sex
Extra membership options ($49/month)
Free signed copy of all forthcoming books
In addition to the normal Tyrannus Hall perks, we will send you a signed copy of every book we publish, starting with It’s Good To Be A Man, due out from Canon Press in October 2021. This book goes into depth on the issues we face in recovering gendered piety in our day, with practical steps for how men who feel clueless and unfathered can take dominion as God’s sons. We also have two sequels underway: It’s Good To Be A Husband, and It’s Good To Be A Father.
Free copy of How To Develop A Masculine Mission
We will also send you our playbook, How To Develop A Masculine Mission, as part of your membership pack. Once you have worked through its information and exercises, you will be able to write up your own mission that integrates your particular circumstances, goals, and aspirations into a guiding purpose for your life.
Double honor option if you wish to contribute more than $49/month
Some men have asked us how they can contribute more than the standard amount, following Scripture’s admonition to “not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased” (Hebrews 13:16), and to “store up for yourselves treasures in heaven” (Matthew 6:20). If you are in a position to support us in this way, we have added the option to give double honor at checkout. This automatically unlocks the extra membership options.
What’s it like?
The Hall is a refuge for fellowship between Christian men. There is camaraderie and humor, alongside sober discussion and candid counsel. The focus is on proactively building up men, so they can build up the house of God.
- It is not a battleground. Frank and open discussion is encouraged; conflict is not. Tough debates are welcome in a dedicated
- It is not a pity-party. Many members are facing truly difficult problems. The Hall is there to support them. It does this by helping them to develop a better command of, and command over, those things that are within their power, while holding them up in prayer on the others. In the Hall, you will always find a sympathetic ear attached to a soft heart—but you will also find these connected to a sharp eye and a hard head.
What’s with the unicorn/coat of arms?
You mean what’s with the goring stallion. That is Baron Goring von Thrüsthoven, the Tyrannus Hall mascot. He is retaking the unicorn from women and the effeminate, reclaiming it as an icon of masculinity—like it used to be in the middle ages.
The crown symbolizes Christ and the dominion he delegates to us as men, and the stars above the unicorn represent the guiding masculine virtues we identify in Scripture:
- ✷ Strength (robur)
- ✷ Workmanship (opus)
- ✷ Wisdom (prudentia)
Tyrannus Hall requirements & obligations
Membership is billed monthly
This means you are not locked into any long-term commitments. You can check out the Hall, and if it isn’t for you, leave again within a month. That way you’re only out $35. Or, if you want to stick around, your membership will automatically renew each month—but you can cancel this at any time.
You can participate however suits you
We do not expect you to read or follow every discussion. You may lurk, join conversations, or start new ones, as you have the time and inclination. You are welcome to get as involved as you want, or simply take inspiration and insight without saying anything.
You must be a man
This should go without saying, but to join the Hall you must be an actual man, born with a penis and everything. Anyone aged 18 and up is welcome, provided he meets the other requirements.
You must affirm historic Christianity
Basic Christian orthodoxy is taken as given in the Hall, and you may not debate it or advocate for views contrary to it. If you are not a believer, the Hall is not for you. You must be able to subscribe in good conscience to the Tyrannus Hall Creed
You must control your tongue
Frank and open discussion is encouraged; conflict and contention is not. Neither is trolling, nor brawling, nor venting, nor filthines.
Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear… Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice… and there must be no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks. (Ephesians 4:29, 31; 5:4)
If you use your common sense, you’ll be fine. Respectful disagreement is always ok. Anything that would get you slapped upside the head in real life probably isn’t. We don’t police comments, but we will delete inappropriate ones if we see them, and ban anyone who ignores our warnings.
You must be trustworthy
The integrity of the Hall is paramount to its value. Open discussion, frank feedback, and sensitive counsel is only possible with trust and discretion. Anyone who shares screenshots/quotes without express permission, or otherwise betrays the privacy or confidentiality of their brothers in any way, will be immediately and permanently banned.
It’s Good To Be A Man is overseen by two men: Michael Foster and Bnonn Tennant. Our goal is to bring together, equip, and be sharpened by a worldwide community of men. We want to reform and repair God’s house on a large scale by finding ways to build up large numbers of men into godly and effective patriarchs. Read more about us here »
